Mangrove Cleanup
Plastic and glass bottles
were found the most.
Our action for Exhibition was to do a Mangrove cleanup. We decided to use greener products (buckets instead of plastic bags and gloves that can be reused). We went round to each classroom and announced that we were having a mangrove cleanup. Even though it was pretty short notice we did get 9 volunteers. We collected 48 buckets of trash and had other bits that did not fit in buckets. It was hard in the beginning because we had get permission to use the land and we had to book the school van. We also gathered supplies like buckets and gloves. When we began we gathered all the participants and we gave a talk about why mangroves are important. then we got in different cars and went to road reef. When we got there we handed out the buckets and the gloves to every one who came. Later we went to the best place to clean up and we started putting litter into our buckets a couple of us went out to explore for better places to get garbage. Soon we were all working on one spot of the mangrove together. We all kept working and soon there was 3 or 4 people went out to see if there was any better places to move, their mission failed . Soon every one had to stop and we found out we collected 48 buckets and we were all proud of ourselves. After that we got pictures of us holding up a big tub full of trash and I think we got in the newspaper. We all had a great day and had a lot of fun.
